It has been a tradition among the earliest luthiers, to give each guitar they build a name. The name is almost always female and bears some significance to the individual instrument being built. I was introduced to this practice by Mike Howland who built my first 19th century style parlor guitar. ("Kate"). So, just for fun, I went back and named each guitar in my collection. All the names have connections which are described in the picture captions.
